We are an organisation providing support and furnished accommodation to young homeless people and single parent families within the heart of Gipton.

Our Aims and Objectives are:

  • To provide supported housing to people who are vulnerable and in need of accommodation.
  • To support and assist residents to develop their skills for independent living.
  • To maximise the opportunities for independence by working in partnership with agencies offering training.
  • To lobby for an increase in supported housing and related services.
  • To develop links with other community groups.
  • To actively work to identify support needs in our area.
  • To continue to develop GIPSIL as a local  organisation serving local needs.
  • To work towards recognised national quality standards in Housing Management, Human Resources and Total Quality Management (ISO9000)

Throughout our work we will:

  • Endeavour to achieve high standards.
  • Behave with integrity and foresight.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Equal Opportunities.
  • Respond with sensitivity to everybody with whom we deal.
  • Encourage people to contribute to and develop our work.
  • Seek to enhance community life.
  • Encourage partnerships to uphold and further our purpose.

Single Tenancy Scheme

The Single Tenancy Team supports 60 young people, aged 16-25 in their own flats which we furnish. Over the past six and half years many young care leavers have been housed and supported by the team, and there are currently a number of young people in GIPSIL flats who have been in care. If you're interested in finding out more, ring GIPSIL and speak to one of the housing support workers - Sarah, Dawn, Alan or Nicky - or to Karen, the Team Leader.

Pictured below is an example of one of the properties managed by the Single Tenancy Team for single tenants.

Single Parents Scheme

GIPSIL has 30 houses for single parents supported by a team of three workers.  The houses are well furnished and located all across Gipton.  Like the Single Tenancy Team, our Single Parent workers give help and advice to young parents on a wide range of issues.  In some cases we can work closely with Social Services.
Any enquires should be made to Jan or Lynne the Team Leader.
